Celebrating International Day of Cooperatives 2026

On Saturday, 4 July 2026, communities around the world will come together to celebrate the United Nations International Day of Cooperatives, also known as Coops Day. This annual event highlights the important role cooperatives play in building stronger communities, supporting sustainable development, and creating a fairer, more inclusive future.

This year’s global theme, “Cooperatives for a Peaceful World,” reflects the growing importance of collaboration, trust, and community connection in today’s rapidly changing world. At a time when many societies are facing economic uncertainty, social division, and rising inequality, cooperatives continue to demonstrate the power of people working together for shared success.

RapidClean New Zealand is proud to be part of this global movement.

For more than 40 years, the RapidClean Group has operated as a cooperative, bringing together independently owned businesses across New Zealand and Australia to deliver high-quality cleaning and hygiene solutions to workplaces nationwide. Our cooperative structure allows local business owners to combine their strengths, knowledge, and resources while still maintaining strong ties to the communities they serve.

Being part of a cooperative creates real benefits, not only for members, but also for customers, employees, and local communities. Through collaboration and shared values, cooperatives help create stable local employment opportunities, support regional economies, and encourage long-term business sustainability.

At RapidClean New Zealand, our members are deeply connected to their local communities. They understand the unique needs of local businesses, schools, healthcare facilities, hospitality venues, and workplaces because they live and work in those communities themselves. This local knowledge, backed by the strength of a national network, allows RapidClean New Zealand members to provide exceptional service while contributing to community growth and resilience.

The 2026 theme also aligns strongly with the cooperative principles of democratic participation, inclusion, and mutual support. Cooperatives help build trust between people and organisations by creating environments where collaboration comes before competition and where success is shared for the benefit of all.

As highlighted by the International Cooperative Alliance (ICA), cooperatives contribute to peaceful societies by strengthening local economies, expanding access to essential services, and fostering solidarity and inclusion. These values are at the heart of everything RapidClean stands for.

This International Day of Cooperatives, we celebrate the power of cooperation and recognise the positive impact cooperatives continue to make across Australia and around the world. Together, we are building stronger businesses, stronger communities, and a more connected future.
